Richland Township Building & Zoning
Township Building Code
The Township has adopted the UCC Act 45 PA Construction Code for the purpose of establishing rules and regulations for the construction, alteration, removal and use of buildings and structures. This also includes accessory structures such as utility and storage sheds, patios, porches and swimming pools. Required inspections for all building activities are accomplished during the hours of 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM unless a special appointment is made in advance.

Permits for Building & Zoning
Permits are required for:
- Change of Use of Occupancy
- Construction of a new building
- Signage
- Structural alterations or repairs
- Adding new structures, additions or dwelling units, with or without foundations
- Sheds, fences, swimming pools, concrete patios, paver patios, parking lots and driveways
- Plumbing fixtures, installed or replaced
- Moving or relocating a building
- Demolition, razing of a building (Ordinance #191)
- Earth disturbance over 1,000 sq. ft. (Ordinance #210)
- Temporary structures
- Well drilling
All applications for Building and Zoning permits should include the following information:
- Plot plan including lot dimensions, building setbacks, proposed construction location, existing structures and easements
- Description of the proposed construction
- Estimated cost of construction
- Type of occupancy (present and proposed use)
- Name, address, and telephone number of owner, contractor, and authorized agent
